Overview

iMentor is seeking a strong communicator and project manager with demonstrated success building and maintaining external partnerships to become the Associate Director of High School Partnerships, NYC. This person will support iMentor NYC’s existing partnerships across 13 high schools and support the strategic expansion of partnerships.

The AD of High School Partnerships will facilitate external opportunities and supports for NYC students through partnership stewardship and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including Program Managers (PMs), principals, students, district leaders, and beyond. If successful, this person will ultimately contribute to the improvement of long-term student outcomes and the success of the NYC Program team by establishing and maintaining the strong partnerships needed to effectively implement our High School and Post-Secondary programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the NYC Department of Education, the NYC post-secondary landscape and at least three years of demonstrated success supporting strong school partner relationships, be highly organized and good at keeping multiple projects on track, be comfortable representing iMentor externally and building buy-in and excitement internally, and be an excellent communicator.

The AD of High School Partnerships will report to the Senior Director of iMentor NYC’s High School program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the school partnership stewardship systems, collaboration touchpoints, and documentation processes for iMentor NYC’s 13 high school and NYC DOE partners, in close collaboration with the High School Program Implementation Leadership Team, High School Program Managers & Program Operations team.
  • Maintain strong communication and regular engagement touchpoints with our partner schools to communicate updates, make requests, and share progress.
  • Oversee partnerships operations processes including tracking student engagement, documentation for grant compliance, and supporting the billing cycle with partner schools.
  • Strengthen iMentor’s partnership with the NYC Department of Education by deepening relationships across key stakeholders and facilitating regular touchpoints.
  • Lead the research and recruitment processes to expand iMentor to new high school partners.
  • Lead the onboarding and stakeholder engagement processes of these new partnerships.
  • Build out and implement the collection of student input and feedback on elements of HS Program and NYC partnerships.
  • Support the Senior Director of the High School Program with scheduling, preparation, and operations of external and internal engagement opportunities.
  • Support iMentor organization-wide initiatives, requiring occasional ( 3-5 per month) evening and/or weekend events, and a presence in schools.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in NYC Department of Education partnership management , youth development, education and/or volunteer engagement
  • Strong working knowledge of the NYC DOE, the NYC career pathway and education landscape
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills to ensure that multiple projects move forward simultaneously.
  • Able to source post-secondary and school-level data, understand its implications, and identify next steps.
  • Strong relationship manager with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Skilled at supporting partnership stewardship and strategies in building buy in with NYC DOE partners, school administrators and peer nonprofit counterparts.
  • Able to succinctly and compellingly represent the value and impact of the iMentor program externally to school leaders, district leaders, prospective partners, and peer nonprofits in college/career success space.
  • Able to solicit valuable input from students and build broad understanding among students of iMentor’s role in college & career access field by effectively communicating relevant iMentor context beyond the student’s program experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to have tough conversations.
  • Demonstrated alignment with iMentor’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
