Position Overview:

InnovateEDU is seeking a Full Time Finance Associate to support the finance and operations functions within our mid-sized nonprofit organization. The Finance Associate will work closely with the Executive Director and report to the Senior Finance Associate to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and requirements set by funders, partners, and government agencies. This person will also work closely with the InnovateEDU leadership to support administrative systems and routines of the organization with a particular focus on InnovateEDU’s financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial transactions and operations: Support the day-to-day operation of InnovateEDU’s financial systems, including the integrity of financial accounting records and the timeliness and compliance of all grant-related reimbursements and expenses. Support daily financial and business activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement processes and associated supply, inventory management, and asset tracking systems under the supervision of the Senior Finance Associate.
  • Budgeting: Support the Senior Finance Associate by contributing to the annual budgeting process for the organization as a whole and support development of grant budgets as needed. Maintain a regular cadence of communication with Program Directors and employees to ensure adherence to budget and relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Reporting for government contracts: Manage the metrics and reporting related to InnovateEDU’s afterschool program contract with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) including: entering data into DYCD’s online portal and other systems as required; monitoring management, contractor, and other agreements with particular attention to financial reporting requirements; and providing advisement and support of grant metrics, budget statuses, and rate of participation in advance of audits.
  • External compliance: Help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and requirements set by funders and partners including, but not limited to: audit preparation, and compliance with the agency’s held School-Aged Child Care licenses.
  • Reporting for private grants: Support grants management organization-wide by completing monthly budget vs. actuals reports for each of InnovateEDU’s grant-funded projects, including both private philanthropic and public funding sources, and drafting regular financial reports for inspection by funders, program leads, and InnovateEDU’s Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year of nonprofit finance and operations experience
  • Experience with financial reporting and grants management, experience with reporting and compliance related to public funding sources strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with bookkeeping and reporting using Quickbooks Online
  • Skill at and comfort with managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail

Compensation:

All candidates are pay scaled by an independent third-party service or application which calculates the market rate for the applicant based on skills and qualifications, job duties, market conditions within the location of applicant, education and experience. This position’s compensation range is $24-$26 hourly. InnovateEDU full-time employees receive paid vacation and sick leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, and other standard benefits
