Job Description:

The HR Payroll Analyst administers the organization’s payroll and payroll-related payments, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for researching and analyzing pay data and working with team members on pay related questions.  

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above. 

Essential Functions:

• Processes semi-monthly payroll to include; providing input and verifying accuracy of paychecks, accumulations of tax and pay information, tax profile, direct deposit, pay adjustments, and other entries; investigates and resolves input/output problems; provides input and verifies compliance with Federal, State and Local payroll tax laws.

• Researching and analyzing pay data, pay discrepancies and other complex payroll issues to identify root causes, potential system issues or user errors, and to determine appropriate corrective action.

• Providing high quality customer service to employees by helping them understand their pay and associated pay rules.

• Implements policies and procedures, and recommends process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the payroll function; collaborates with third-party service providers and other internal departments to achieve these goals.

• Processes payroll-related supplier payments, including insurance premiums, retirement plan contributions, and other payroll liabilities.

• Performs interface processes between HR, payroll and timekeeping systems; troubleshoots and resolves error messages, and reports action items to internal stakeholders involved in the interface process as required.

• Serves as a subject‐matter expert for third-party payroll provider and team members at all levels to address inquiries and issues related to Payroll, collaborating with Payroll Manager and Total Rewards team as appropriate; troubleshoots and resolves issues, including those related to ADP iPay, providing support to users.

• Assists in the preparation of reports; may assist in preparing journal entries and quarterly reconciliation of payroll liability accounts.

• May support the administration of the timekeeping system by providing technical and policy support to employees on timecard-related matters.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

• Requires an Associate degree and at least five years of related work experience, or combination education and experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Experience administering multi state, semimonthly payroll.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and be able to work quickly and accurately in a deadline-driven environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to use sound judgement in interpreting regulations and policies

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

• Recent experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred

• Experience with PeopleSoft Time & Labor and PeopleSoft Financials to support payroll processing and reporting preferred

• Knowledge of employment taxation is a plus.
