Job Description:

The Fulbright Events team advances the mission of the Fulbright program by creating engagement and connections among Fulbright students, scholars and professionals. Through our events, Fulbrighters from around the world connect with each other, engage with concepts and ideas, and further their professional development, academic success, and understanding of the United States and other countries.

The Project Manager implements seminars, conferences, orientations and other events for the Fulbright Program. This position requires collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager will oversee the work of coordinators, temporary employees and volunteers on a project-by-project basis.

Essential Functions:

Designs and implements the content and program structures for in-person and virtual orientations, events, trainings, workshops, and professional delegations.

Responsible for on-site event delivery, including leading an on-site team and volunteers

Identifies and secures content providers, such as event speakers, trainers and facilitators; site visits; and cultural activities.

Develops and monitors implementation plans, prepares progress reports, manages budget, participant needs and closeout activities.

Communicates with internal stakeholders, program sponsor, and third-party partners to ensure that each event is aligned with the Fulbright Program’s goals and needs.

Oversees the implementation of logistical needs including travel, accommodations, food and beverage services, oversight of ground transportation, venues, and all other meeting arrangements.

Manages attendee assignment process, through building and maintaining event registration sites and apps, using services like Cvent, Crowd Compass or online survey tools.

Creates and edits events materials with support from coordinators and administrators.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in international education, training or events management.

Experience working with logistical arrangements, program content development, or facilitation of group training or orientation sessions.

Comfort with using and learning new technologies strongly preferred (i.e., Event Brite, Cvent, Mailchimp, Zoom, Concur, etc.) 

Strong network building skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience managing multitasking complex projects.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent presentation and delivery skills.

High attention to detail.
