Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

  • To maintain and operate vehicle in a clean and safe condition.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Drive assigned route and assist in delivering meals.
  • Arrange for purchase of gas and oil for vehicle when needed and in accordance with Agency procedures. Check fluids, tires as appropriate. Ensure that vehicle is equipped with spare tire, jack and other necessary emergency equipment. Delivery staff is prohibited from changing tires.
  • Immediately report all traffic infractions and vehicle violations to assigned Dispatcher or the Program Director.
  • Obey all traffic regulations.
  • Maintain vehicle in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Responsible for documenting and recording all meals delivered.
  • Assist in the packing of all meals.
  • Ensure carry hot bags are cleaned and maintained on a daily basis.
  • Immediately alert Dispatcher/Program Director of any/all unusual situations regarding homebound clients. Such as not homes, Illness, No heat, disheveled, too hot in home. Any irregular situations.
  • Assist in collecting client contributions, providing each client with a receipt for their contribution.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum one year driving experience.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license with no more than one moving violation within 2 years.
  • No DUI or DWI within the last 8 years.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Solid communication skills. Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to relate to older adults and their needs.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
