Job Path supports people with developmental disabilities as they make choices about their lives and play valued roles in their communities. Job Path encourages people to explore what they want out of life and to chart their own journeys. Whether it’s finding a job, making a contribution in a volunteer role, establishing a home, or being part of the community, the goal is to assist the person to lead a full and active life.
Job Path is helping a young, artistic man with developmental disabilities find a compatible live-in companion. He is seeking a live-in companion to help create and maintain a comfortable and satisfying home life as well as ensure his health and safety. They will share a three-bedroom apartment located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The best candidate would have a warm and gentle energy. As the individual is an artist himself, any artistic or creative background would be appreciated.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:
- Assisting with laundry, shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and other daily activities. Daily activities include: helping him as he gets ready in the morning, assisting in accomplishing household tasks, assisting in making dinner, and assisting in next day preparation.
- To assist him in exploring and becoming more involved in his community and developing relationships and community connections.
- Find and develop outlets for his artistic interests and abilities.
- Maintain positive relationships and frequent communication with his family, circle members and other service providers.
- Administrative duties such as completing case notes, saving and itemizing receipts, petty cash reconciliation, billing, monitoring medication intake, and managing their weekly schedule with community activities.
Qualifications: High school degree and at least one year work experience in social services/other experience supporting people with disabilities.
Salary: $32,900 annual salary plus free rent with a private room and one shared bathroom; this is a full time position. Non-exempt.
