Job Path supports people with developmental disabilities as they make choices about their lives and play valued roles in their communities. Job Path encourages people to explore what they want out of life and to chart their own journeys. Whether it’s finding a job, making a contribution in a volunteer role, establishing a home, or being part of the community, the goal is to assist the person to lead a full and active life. 

Job Path’s Self Direction program gives people the opportunity to hire specialized staff to work on specific goals. One of the people we work with is interested in learning how to dance salsa and would also like to improve his Spanish speaking skills. His support can be done virtually to start, but ideally will move to in person in a mutually agreed upon community based site or the person’s home in East Harlem. 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Facilitating one to one sessions for each area of interest (Spanish/Salsa)
  • Creating and implementing curriculum 
  • Submitting completed monthly and weekly progress notes/casenotes
  • Searching venues to exercise/practice Salsa 

Qualifications: High-School Diploma or GED. Ability to show fluency in Spanish and knowledge of Salsa dancing. The ideal candidate would exhibit a person-oriented mindset. Must have basic computer skills, such as ability to respond to e-mails, submit electronic timesheets, and complete casenotes through an electronic health record system.

Salary: $20/hr: 2 hours per week, non-exempt for overtime

Health, dental, and enhanced short term disability insurance available to employees who average 28 hours of work per week after a six month measurement period.
