About Kings Against Violence Initiative (KAVI)

Kings Against Violence Initiative (KAVI) is a nonprofit, 501c3 organization that seeks to protect and improve the lives of young people in low-income and underserved communities by preventing and eliminating interpersonal violence through advocacy, peer leadership, community mobilization, and advancing social justice.  Using a multidisciplinary approach to violence prevention and youth development, we connect with youth at their schools, in community settings, and in hospitals –as part of an holistic effort to violence intervention that begins and ends with recognizing their humanity. Grounded in public health principles we center prevention, immediate intervention (in the hospital setting), and community building.

About KAVI’s Hospital Programs

KAVI operates a violence intervention program out of Kings County Hospital Center to support youth who are both perpetrators and victims of violence to access the tools they need to be safe, healthy, and thrive. Our program helps young people be better able to cope with their trauma, address and de-escalate conflict, and become active young leaders.
