Overview

The Education/Site Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center.

S/he oversees both the facility and education component and works on a collaborative managerial team to ensure their site is aligned with the Agency’s overall mission. The Education/ Site Director’s duties include and are not limited to:

Responsibilities

Ø  Ensure the site follows and is in compliance with all licensing requirements.

Ø  Manage facility to ensure the health and safety of the school community.

Ø  Maintain and enforce quality standards of Early Childhood Education designed to meet the educational, emotional, physical, and social needs of all children.

Ø  Oversee the on-site program for all students.

Ø  Supervise all staff and volunteers assigned to their site.

Ø  Develop and support the professional development needs of their staff.

Ø  In collaboration with Family Service Dept., participate in the recruitment and maintenance of enrollment at their site which includes devising strategies to increase and maintain enrollment throughout the year.

Ø Collaborate with the Delegate Agency Policy Committee (DAPC) to recruit and interview applicants for open positions at the childcare center.

Ø Encourage and support the parent’s role as the primary educator of their own children and engage in parent programming.

Ø Maintains accurate and updated records on children and staff in a well-secured storage area.

Ø Implement and enforce the agency’s established procedures

Ø Create and maintain a collaborative and motivating environment both on and off-site for staff and families.

Qualifications and Skills

Ø  MANDATORY: NYS State Certification (Birth to 2nd Grade or Nursery-Grade 6 or Dual Special Education)

Ø  MANDATORY: M.A. or M.S. Degree from an accredited college in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or similar content area

Ø  Minimum of 3 yrs. supervisory experience

Ø Minimum of five years experience as a Lead Teacher working with children aged 3- 5 years old

Ø Knowledge of principles and practices of Administration, Training, and Supervision

Ø  Knowledge of DOH Article 47 and associated procedures

Ø  Knowledge of HeadStart policies and procedures

Spanish language preferred

Ability to navigate technology and virtual platforms preferred.
