Overview

Organization: Latino U College Access (LUCA), is a college access and success nonprofit organization in Westchester County whose mission is to empower first generation Latino students on their journeys to and through college completion so they can fulfill their remarkable potential.  In only eight years, our comprehensive and impactful programs have reached over 6,000 parents and students with information, guidance, and support through the college admissions and financial aid process. Headquartered in White Plains, NY,  Latino U College Access serves first generation Latino students in Westchester County in partnership with the White Plains, Ossining, Elmsford Unified, and Sleepy Hollow school districts. 

Position:  LUCA seeks an organized and energetic self-starter to join our growing organization as part of our Program Team.  The Program Coordinator will assist in delivering and implementing our signature programs: Latino U Scholars (College Access) and First Gen Forward (College Success). As a key member of our team, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the oversight and support of essential details ensuring programs are consistent with LUCA’s mission and goals.

Reports to:  Director of Programs                       Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project management, preparation and implementation of workshops and community presentations. 
  • Conduct outreach to parents and students in Spanish to maximize program participation.
  • Build authentic relationships with Scholars with personalized guidance on academic and non-academic issues 
  • Provide organizational and administrative support to program staff. 
  • Ensure excellence in service, troubleshooting issues as they arise, in support of program delivery.
  • Work with staff, partners, and school administrators to ensure highest quality outcomes for students and families. 
  • Develop program content and research sources of professional college access and college success information.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure outcomes and utilize data for program decision making and improvement
  • Engage LUCA Alumni network post college graduation to support Scholars and encourage ongoing success

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Bilingual Spanish / English highly preferred to successfully communicate with scholars and their families 
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse constituents and form strong relationships with college aged youth 
  • Exceptional problem-solver, self-starter, quick learner, and able to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to multitask, and nimbly handle changing priorities 
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong Collaborator; excited to engage staff, community leaders, corporate partners, and college administrators
  • Mastery and comfort with technology; including Google Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, and databases (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Flexibility for evenings or weekends to deliver programming as required, either in-person or virtually via Zoom
