Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Attorney to join our District Court Trial Bureau representing indigent clients charged with misdemeanor level offenses. As a Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for handling a significant caseload and providing legal support and expertise to our organization. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the area of criminal defense and to help clients with significant needs for quality representation.
Duties of this position:
– Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues
Draft criminal motions
Review discovery
– Prepare cases for trial and pretrial litigation
– Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to strategize on legal issues
– Engage in training and attorney development
To excel in this role you should have the following skills:
– Strong legal drafting skills
– Proficiency in conducting legal research using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
– Excellent research and analytical abilities
– Ability to negotiate effectively
Experience in litigation and courtroom procedures
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
