JOB OVERVIEW: 

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Local and National Programs is an integral member of the senior management team who works closely with and reports to the CEO & President. This role brings a strategic, community-centered view to align programmatic efforts and leverage expertise across teams to meet LISC’s mission. The EVP helps to envision the future of the organization by goal setting, identifying strategic opportunities, inspiring, and taking action to achieve goals, and providing a strong day-to-day leadership presence that bridges all projects, programs, and initiatives within both on a local and national level. The EVP of Local and National Programs ensures that LISC’s programs are responsive to community needs, while being well executed, data-driven, and impact-focused. As a program expert the role builds relationships and partnerships in communities and across the community development/finance ecosystem and supports resource development and capitalization activities. Developing strategic relationships and partnerships with institutional funders and government agencies will be an important part of this role’s portfolio of work. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the successful implementation and cross-organization coordination of LISC programs, initiatives, and special projects, 

• Provide strong strategic leadership and guidance to develop, implement and grow new lines of business and program offerings while ensuring operational efficiency.

• Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure effective systems and work processes.

• Oversee the programmatic areas of the organization by providing support and direction to program leaders and staff, serving as a thought partner and resource, nurturing continuous learning and development, and supporting opportunities for staff leadership.

• Lead program leadership team to ensure they are effectively managing deadlines, evaluating, and monitoring program performance against annual goals, and prioritizing activities accordingly.

• Ensures that effective operating systems are implemented to manage, monitor and report critical data.

• Build connections and collaboration between various departments and activities, enabling program departments to leverage cross-departmental opportunities.

• Collaborate with Senior Leadership team to ensure ongoing, data-driven impact measurement, program insight, and accountability to guide decision making

• Works closely with the CEO & President to establish project priorities and align human and financial resources to achieve organizational goals.

• Manage fiscal sponsor services such as agreements, budgets, grant income, grantmaking, and financial reporting.

• Develop annual operating and project budgets in line with the strategic plan and annual work plan, working in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer. 

• Partners with the Senior Vice President of People and Culture to define the optimum organizational structure for the local and national program teams as it relates to optimal staff roles and responsibilities, effective team composition and levels of employee engagement.

• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders, including nonprofits, CDFIs, banks, real estate developers, impact investors, elected officials, public agencies, and other stakeholders.

• Foster a diverse and highly skilled staff and establish goals in a collaborative manner to ensure that team members have responsibility and ownership for the successful outcomes.

• Practice inclusive team management that results in high levels of engagement and belonging; align on vision, priorities, and role expectations with all team members.

• Foster a culture that values collaboration and inclusivity, high performance, problem solving, excellent client services, learning, and innovation. 

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters’s degree from and accredited college or university or equivalent relevant work experience

• Minimum 15 years’ experience as a senior leader in economic or community development with increasing responsibility, management, and supervisory roles

• The ideal candidate is passionate about community development. Is a strategic thinker with the ability to translate community expressed needs into actionable programs responses, with a proven ability to drive growth, change and innovation.

• Demonstrates strong values alignment with LISC and its mission, in addition to unimpeachable personal and professional integrity.

• Proven ability to build deep, thoughtful relationships with our stakeholders with excellent communication skills, reliability, and a positive, confident disposition.

• Media communication skills, including experience in public speaking, expert panel participation, interviews, etc.

• Proven leadership, relationship management, equity acumen, and institutional fundraising experience.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to develop and maintain long-term, productive relationships both internally and externally.

• Flexible and easily balance different priorities, with experience and comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

• Mission-driven –passionate about LISC’s work and are motivated to work towards operational efficiency, service excellence, community impact and the continued mission and vision of the organization.

• Position requires significant national travel, estimated at 25-30% annually

 

Compensation: 

LISC offers a competitive salary ($280, 000 – $325, 000) and excellent benefits. 

 

Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
