Overview
Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
The Advancement Assistant position provides support to the advancement office in the form of: event execution, donor cultivation and stewardship, prospect research and identification.
Principal Responsibilities:
Specific functions include, but are not limited to: liaising directly with Board members, high-level donors and prospects by phone, email and at in-person events and concerts, drafting business-related donor and constituent communication, strengthening the managerial functions for a number of cultivation and fundraising events, supporting data-driven information systems, drafting grant applications, etc.
- Draft donor correspondence – pledge agreements, invoices, acknowledgements, solicitation letters, cultivation materials, etc.
- Assist in the coordination of fundraising and cultivation events, receptions, stewardship events, etc.
- Pre- and post-event management – Gala, sponsor dinners, Swing for Kids Tournament, cultivation events in the donor lounge
- Maintain financial records and budget including expenses, donations and earned revenue for specific events and campaigns
- Assist with fundraising campaigns and initiatives
- Continue to foster positive relationships between Tilles Center and its stakeholders
- Utilize design and presentation platforms advancing aesthetics of written communication
- Other duties as assigned
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
- Development and/or special events experience a plus, but not required
- Professionalism and diplomacy are a must as the position requires interacting with donors, VIPs, and special guests
- Highly organized
- Interpersonal communication skills — written and verbal
- Excellent judgment and strong decision-making abilities
- Solid follow-through skills from project initiation to completion
- Self-starter with ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment
- Experience with CRM software a plus
- Available to work select evenings and weekends, as required
- All works hours take place in-person at Tilles Center
- Must be able to lift 20+ pounds
