Minds Matter NYC connects driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. For 30 years, every Minds Matter NYC student has been admitted to a four-year college or university. 

Over the last several years, Minds Matter NYC has experienced tremendous growth—doubling the size of the student body, expanding the size of the volunteer corps and staff, and growing the annual budget. The organization is poised to dramatically expand both its service population and scope of services as part of its 2025 strategic plan. 

Minds Matter seeks an enthusiastic, organized, and driven Senior College Success Manager to join the team. Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Senior College Success Manager role is a highly collaborative position that works with various stakeholders throughout the organization, including all members of the Minds Matter NYC staff, the student body, the volunteer corps, and the Executive Committee.  

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $75,000 (non-negotiable). Minds Matter NYC offers full healthcare benefits and a fun and flexible workplace, with a generous vacation policy and the opportunity to set a hybrid work schedule.  

Schedule: The Senior College Program Manager is expected to work 40 hours/week, including meeting outside of standard work hours as necessary. As programming takes place on Saturdays, all staff is required to attend approximately 10 program sessions a year.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage all aspects of the college success program  
  • Work with the Director of Programs to make updates and enhancements to existing college transition and success curriculum 
  • Design and execute regular workshops focused on student success in college 
  • Recruit and train volunteer College Coaches to facilitate program workshops 
  • Manage data collection specific to student progress (e.g., attendance, surveys, transcripts, stipends) 
  • Reconcile and manage program expenses 
  • Work with the programs team to coordinate logistics for events (e.g., scheduling, student communication, materials, etc.)  
  • Occasionally support senior programming in collaboration with Programs Associate and Senior Program Director 
  • Manage community opportunities through Minds Matter Connect 
  • Communicate regularly with students, College Coaches, academic advisors and other campus support resources in support of student success 
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement staff to support students as they apply to career opportunities 
  • Create and maintain partnerships with university staff and CBOs 
  • Collaborate with the programs team to establish best practices and streamline communication 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Significant experience working in college access and persistence  
  • Significant experience in project management and program execution 
  • 5+ years of experience in education or nonprofit sector preferred  
  • Able to manage complex tasks and multiple projects and timelines 
  • Experience in curriculum design and evaluation 
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with high school and college-level students from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds 
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively  
  • Previous experience with Excel and data management preferred  
  • Previous experience with CRM databases, such as Salesforce, preferred 
  • Must be available to work approximately 10 Saturdays during the school year and occasional evenings
