Summary:

The National Urban League seeks an Assistant to the Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer. The candidate should be a dynamic, energetic, and results-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills to support the Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer.

The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a diversity of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

Essential Functions:

  • Sustain a daily calendar of meetings and events by organizing complex calendars and schedules and resolving any scheduling issues.
  • Conserve the Executive’s time by reading, researching, collecting, and analyzing information as needed, in advance.
  • Draft and prepare correspondence for internal announcements, meetings, and organizations.
  • Prepare Word, Excel, PowerPoint presentations, agendas, reports, decks, special projects, and other documents in support of objectives for the organization.
  • Arrange travel and accommodation. Prepare expense reports.
  • Screen incoming telephone calls; respond to requests by gathering and providing information and referring non-routine calls to the appropriate staff.
  • Manage the Executive’s contacts and meeting notes/actions in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Manage sensitive matters with a prominent level of confidentiality and use discretion and good judgment to handle complex matters.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or related field or an acceptable combination of experience and training.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience required in working in an executive assistant role supporting executive level or principal

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  •  Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Proficiency in Raisers’ Edge or other Constituent Management Records systems.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills; proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment; performs additional duties as assigned with minimal supervision.
  • Team player – have team-oriented experience and approach.
  • Service focus – dedicated to meeting the expectations of the Executive Vice President and other senior executives by maintaining effective relationships with interested parties.
  • Ability to think outside of the box with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
  • Hybrid position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
