Overview
JOB SUMMARY: The Skills Training Coordinator will provide support to young adults ages 17-24 with barriers to education and employment. The Skills Training Coordinator is responsible for identifying and connecting young adults to advanced skills training, work experience programs, and internships in healthcare, customer service, and hospitality. The Skills Training Coordinator will also provide support to participants during their program engagement.
Job Duties include but not limited to:
· Serve as lead staff in assessing young adults and connecting them with relevant skills training opportunities that will lead to an industry-recognized credential and sustainable employment.
· Host program orientations and workshops on the work experience training component of the YouthBuild program.
· Adequately prepare program participants for their skills training program or internship prior to reporting to worksite.
· Work closely with young adults throughout their program cycle to ensure adequate participation, and successful completion.
· Work with training partners to provide support and resources throughout training period.
· Strengthen our network of training partners that can provide job training and work experience opportunities in health care, construction and/or carpentry, food service, customer service, and hospitality.
· Work closely with the supervisor to evaluate progress and identify areas for improvement.
· Counsel and coach young adults in one-on-one and in groups to provide support and address concerns.
· Visits young adults at their training worksite to provide support and connect with employers.
· Capture, maintain, and track program participation and outcomes in our proprietary information systems.
· Participate in staff-development training and attend all appropriate meetings.
· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
· A preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth with barriers to education and employment or workforce development.
· Bilingual skills (Spanish-English) are a plus.
· Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
· Ability to work well as a team and independently.
· Must be detailed oriented, organized, and able to adapt to different settings.
· Must enjoy working with young adults and have a positive mindset and can work in a structured, holistic program setting.
· Extremely organized/detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Employment is at will and employees will undergo 45- and 90-day check-ins during their 90-day probationary period.
