Overview

New York Communities for Change seeks a full-time campaigner to support our climate and inequality campaigns on the city and state level.

The ideal candidate is a savvy organizer with a deep understanding of collation building, policy, and media. They will understand the intersection of climate changes and racial and economic inequality and of the urgency of issues facing our communities. They will be committed to getting results and winning victories while working in a fast-paced environment. This position is an excellent position for candidates interested in challenging capitalist exploitation and extraction of wealth from low-income communities of color in New York State.

The campaigner is a staff member of NYCC reporting to the Campaigns Director.

Job Responsibilities:

• Creating and executing strategic campaign plans in support of our ongoing campaign work

• Building a committee of campaign leaders from NYCC’s membership and the broader movement.

• Building relationships with policy, advocacy, and community organization and organizing powerful coalitions

• Seeking out funding opportunities, and developing and maintaining relationships with foundations and funders.

Qualifications:

We’re seeking candidates who are results-oriented, have strong time management skills and are committed to social and economic justice.

You should have:

• A proven ability to write and execute a strategic campaign plan

• A demonstrated ability to create content that resonates with a variety of specific audiences including, working-class communities, funders, policymakers, and etc.

• Familiarity with communications, media and digital strategies and best practices

• Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

• Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends

• Bilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole) is strongly preferred.

Compensation Package:

• Salary range: $50,000- $60,000 commensurate with experience

• Paid vacation, personal time, holidays, and sick time
