About The Perelman Performing Arts Center

Following 9/11, the community and civic planning process that resulted in the World Trade Center master plan in 2003 envisioned a new performing arts center as one of the anchors of the site. Now under construction, The Perelman Performing Arts Center (“PAC NYC”) is the realization of that plan and process. Programming at PAC NYC is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023.

The role:

As our first in-house Creative Director, you will own how the PAC NYC brand shows up in the world. You will shape and drive our creative strategy, from concept to execution, and manage the brand across a variety of formats including web, social media, print, and in physical and digital applications within our building. 

As our Creative Director, you will work cross-functionally with other departments and key stakeholders to support highly visible internal and external branding and design elements, ensuring that our creative content is consistent and best in class. You will manage and motivate a team of creatives, and be the champion and manager of brand guidelines for the wider organization. 

 

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute on PAC NYC’s creative strategy, including overseeing creative elements for web and social media content, advertising communications, event materials and collateral, and in-building digital campaigns, from concept to execution.
  • Provide strong leadership and creative direction to build and amplify PAC NYC’s brand.
  • Build a creative request process and system for the organization.
  • Recruit, manage and lead a team of creatives, including full time and freelance hires.
  • Oversee PAC NYC’s brand guidelines, updating and supplementing as needed, and ensure that the application of our brand guidelines and standards is consistent across the organization.
  • Provide design and copy direction and set high standards for our approach to the production of creative assets.
  • Work with Marketing and Artistic teams, conceptualize and design creative assets that meet departmental briefs and align with PAC NYC’s brand guidelines.
  • Supervise outside vendors such as printers, illustrators, photographers and freelance designers.
  • Drive and deliver multiple creative projects simultaneously.
  • May be assigned other related work, as required.

 

What it takes to be successful in the role:

  • 7 – 10 years of progressive experience, with at least two years of management a team of creatives.
  • Demonstrated experience as an in-house creative leader with an art direction / design background.
  • A big picture thinker and strategist who can effectively pitch and present ideas.
  • Solutions oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • A player/coach driven to build a great team but unafraid to get your hands dirty.
  • Able to give and receive feedback well and pivot when necessary
  • Comfortable navigating the complexity and ambiguous nature of a start-up environment.
  • Strong collaborator with highly effective relationship and partnership skills.
  • A deep affinity for New York and the internet and a strong point of view about what it takes to build a great brand in 2023.
  • A genuine interest in performing arts; experience in the arts or with an entertainment venue is ideal.
  • A commitment to anti-racism and a track record of building inclusive teams.
  • Adobe Suite Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier and Lightroom

 

Compensation and benefits

Annual salary will range between $150,000 – $165,000 plus full benefits. Our benefits package include health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment and disability benefits, and self-insured dental, vision and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off and401K enrollment with employer match.
