Calling all Future Makers and Radical Thinkers!

Project for Empty Space (PES) is opening a new physical location dedicated to Futurism(s), and looking for a forward-looking Admin/Support staff to help build a new type of cultural space.

This position will support PES Co-directors in shaping the PES FUTURES programs, new facility, and their launch and opening in Fall 2023. The PES FUTURES Associate will help to develop a new audience and community for PES FUTURES programming and will assist in the day-to-day management of PES activities in New York City. The PES FUTURES Associate provides direct administrative support to PES Co-directors.

The PES FUTURES Associate will report directly to the Co-Directors, and is part of a team including the Residency + Programs Manager, Junior Designer & Gallery Associate, the Special Projects Team, and consulting the Development Team.

This is an in-office position in New York City, NY, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 – 6 pm, as well as occasional weekend and evening presence for events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with the setup of infrastructure (general operations and management tools).
  • Exhibition and Programs support, which includes working with the PES Team for the development of supporting materials, and management of outreach assets; press release, marketing (digital and printed assets, email marketing campaign, and more) and guest list management.
  • Daily management of exhibitions and programs. (calendar, artist, and guest management)
  • Virtual residency support: artist correspondence, studio visit coordination, and more.
  • Working closely with team members to carry out the vision of this space, fulfill marketing and material needs, and exhibition planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1+ years of experience (including internships) with artists’ services and/or exhibition and project management, preferably in an arts, culture, and/or nonprofit environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strong problem-solving capabilities, and proficiency in Google platforms and other standard office procedures.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese is a plus.
  • Fully vaccinated with a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and/or the World Health Organization authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis).
