Title:                        Intake Coordinator/CASAC Counselor

Program/Location:      The Recovery Center/ Third Street (Manhattan)

Salary Range:         $21.98 – $25.82

Program Overview:

The Recover Center is a Part-822 OASAS Licensed Outpatient Treatment Program. The program offers a harm reduction care protocol that supports the ongoing treatment of people with substance use disorders, through person-centered, trauma informed, recovery-oriented recreation and with modalities such as individual/group therapy sessions. The program offers medical, psychiatric, peers, certified counseling, and occupational therapy services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The CASAC Intake Coordinator position requires an individual with experience and knowledge of working with adults experiencing homelessness, as well as substance use and psychiatric disorders. In addition to conducting intake assessments, the ideal candidate will also manage a small caseload and conduct group sessions. This position reports to The Program Director.

The essential duties of the CASAC Intake Coordinator include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Coordinate and conduct intake assessments for all clients referred to the clinic.
  • Complete intake assessment documentation and reports, including HRA, STARS and OASAS PAS Forms.
  • Complete appropriate referrals to services based on assessed needs (Withdrawal management, Rehabilitation, Medical/Psychiatric services etc.)
  • Conduct required re-assessments and make recommendations and disposition to the Outpatient Department.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 20 clients, including case management, vocational assistance, referrals, and other identified needs.
  • Maintain proper documentation of services, including development of individualized recovery plans, in accordance with OASAS Part-822 regulations.
  • Responsible for facilitating substance use related group sessions. 
  • Attend and participate in all staff and team meetings, and in-service training and case consultation with interdisciplinary staff.
  • Attend and participate in weekly supervision with Assistant Director and/or Program Director.

Qualifications:

High School Degree or GED. Three (3) years uninterrupted sobriety is required for candidates in recovery; New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Use certificate (CASAC/CASAC-T) required.

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience providing direct care to individuals with alcohol and substance use disorders; experience with homeless and forensic population a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, communication, and time management skills; Computer literacy
  • Familiarity with OASAS guidelines and documentation requirements. 
  • Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment.
