Title: SUD Counselor

Salary: $45,000 – $50,000

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday-Thursday (Day Shifts)

Position Overview: The Program is an OASAS part 820 residential stabilization and rehabilitation program. Consumers receive substance use treatment in accordance with 820 residential services. This includes services from LPN’s, counselors, psychiatrists and medical doctors. The program is designed as a holistic and highly individualized model of treatment and focuses on client-centered and trauma-informed approaches to helping people with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Under the direction of the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor, the primary counselor will work with the clinical team, including nursing and counseling, to coordinate care for the OASAS-licensed 820 Residential Services Program. The counselor will provide regular case management services, conduct individual and group sessions, conduct intakes and manage an individual caseload of 5-7 clients. This is a full-time position and comes with an annual salary and benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans with clients admitted to the program.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients and coordinate referrals to further treatment or other supports in the community.
  • Attend regular case conferences and other scheduled meetings with the clinical team.
  • Document all services in accordance with OASAS regulations.
  • Conduct 2-3 clinical groups per week with clients on topics related to substance use disorder, recovery skills, and managing emotions.
  • Attend weekly supervision.
  • Attend regular in-service trainings and workshops.

Education and Essential Skills Required:

  • CASAC/CASAC-T required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with EHR software and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with OASAS regulations for SUD treatment programs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches to treatment including harm reduction.
  • Knowledge of the role of MAT in addiction treatment.
  • Bilingual a plus.
