Overview

We are seeking a qualified Program Director with a strong commitment to supporting the dignity and well-being of older adults to oversee QCH’s community-based continuum of care at the Forest Hills Older Adult Center (FHOAC) and the Forest Hills Naturally-Occurring Retirement Community Supportive Service Program (FH NORC-SSP), which collectively serve over 1500 participants each year through its congregate meal program, weekly food pantry, health promotion activities, educational/recreational opportunities, case management/case assistance, and health management/assistance.  This position works under the direction of the Division Director, Older Adult Center-Based Services and in collaboration with the Associate Executive Director, Older Adult Services. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the FHOAC and FH NORC-SSP 
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of NYC-Aging contract requirements of the FHOAC congregate meal program, NORC-SSP case assistance/management operation, and NORC nursing requirements 
  • Develop and implement educational and recreational programs for members/participants of both programs 

 

  • Supervise FHOAC and FH NORC-SSP staff, volunteers and student interns 
  • Manage a professional team that includes two Assistant Directors, Case Manager, Kitchen Staff, Program Assistant, and Housekeeper 
  • Cooperatively develop program staff job descriptions and training plans, as well as manage evaluation process 
  • Oversee volunteer team that manages the weekly Food Pantry, including supervision of student interns assigned from QCH Young Adult programs 
  • Develop and maintain FHOAC and FH NORC-SSP Participant Advisory Councils (PACs) 
  • Work collaboratively with the SADS Director; cross-OAC staff, including Caseworkers, Wellness Coordinator, Remote Program Coordinator, and Database Manager; and Facilities team to ensure participant satisfaction and safety 

 

  • Assist to develop and maintain well-funded and well-managed FHOAC and FH NORC-SSP 
  • Cooperatively review program and staff performance/needs 
  • Ensure compliance with Building, Fire and Health Department codes 
  • Adhere to NYC Aging and the Food Bank for NYC regulations, standards and guidelines  
  • Assist in increasing program visibility and developing outreach initiatives 
  • Work with AED, management, directors and other agency staff to maintain program additions and/or modifications to meet changing demographics 

 

  • Manage contract and budget performance 
  • Ensure timely input of program performance data into database, as well as manage submission of bi-monthly participation report 
  • Manage regular fiscal activities, including monitoring of program spending and timely submission of vendor invoices 
  • Maintain cost effective and uniform vendor use 
  • Determine program supply and equipment need/maintenance 

 

  • Actively participate in OAS and organizational initiatives 
  • Attend OAC, OAS, QCH Management and All-Staff meetings. 
  • Lead the FHOAC and FH NORC-SSP’s in the development and implementation of annual goals that support QCH’s Mission, Vision, and Position (MVP) 
  • Identify training and conference interests for incorporation into annual development plan 

 

Qualifications: 

REQUIRED skills/experience/qualities:  

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, with NYS Licensure, or related field 
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience managing government contracts 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook and database management/search tools 

PREFERRED skills/experience/qualities:  

  • Knowledge of NYC Aging Older Adult Center, NORC, and SADS standards, as well as Department of Health requirements for center-based programming 
  • Knowledge of PeerPlace and Simple Servings web-based data management tools 
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, and/or Bangla) 
  • SIFI Certification
