ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Level Up! is RiseBoro Empowerments economic empowerment program, serving clients across the division by providing individualized and catered financial and career coaching services. The team works in tandem to ensure clients receive access to the services and programs that will enhance their households overall income and economic well-being. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Workforce Development, the Career Coach will provide workforce-related services to referred clients, including students in the Work Plus program. Services will include job readiness assessments, case management, resource/program navigation, and other referrals. The Career Coach will work collaboratively with the Level Up! team to implement job training and credentialing programs, as well as with RiseBoro Empowerment programs to gain referrals, conduct workshops, do community outreach, and assist households to gain access to the workforce. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Receive referrals of general adult clients and/or youth clients for Works Plus
  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 40 active clients, including youth participants of Works Plus
  • Conducting intakes and assessments of each clients job readiness;
  • Set goals and action plans with each referred client
  • Provide job readiness soft skill training, assist with resume development, writing cover letters, conducting mock interviews, and development of related skills
  • Referral clients to job/career-specific programs in the community that aim to serve the unique and individual client goals
  • Conduct case management to assist clients in alleviating barriers to employment
  • Follow up with each client by holding regular check-ins to measure progress and outcomes
  • Collaborate with staff to schedule, support, and monitor participants through job readiness instruction, educational classes, vocational training, job search assistance, job placement, and retention services
  • Assist with the facilitation of workshops, tracking performance data, and coordinating other community events, particularly for the youth participants of Works Plus
  • Create engaging content for clients
  • Engage the overall partner network by maintaining existing relationships, and pursuing additional opportunities as needed, with particular attention to career pathways that include credentialing, and significant work-related milestones
  • Verify career readiness milestones i.e., job entry, retention, credentialing, etc.
  • Provide seasonal evening vocational training as needed
  • Assist with data reporting and program resource development
  • Other related duties as required

COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated experience in workforce development, economic empowerment, and case management preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to lead workshops and make public-facing presentations
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate responsibilities when appropriate
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem solve and manage time effectively
  • Commitment to RiseBoros mission, vision, and values
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaker preferred
  • Ability to manage a flexible work schedule; evening availability as needed

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years of workforce development, economic empowerment, case management, or related experience preferred
