About The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center
Following 9/11, the community and civic planning process that resulted in the World Trade Center master plan in 2003 envisioned a new performing arts center as one of the anchors of the site. Now under construction, The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center (the “PAC”) is the realization of that plan and process. The building is scheduled for completion in late 2022, with programming to begin in 2023.

The role
The PAC is looking for a proactive and passionate Manager to join our People and Culture team. Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, this role will be responsible for delivering exceptional service relating to our people related functions to support the PAC as it grows its teams, open its doors to the public, and creates a people first organizational culture. The Manger, People and Culture will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment process for assigned roles, collaborating on the creation of new policies and procedures, building out the PAC’s learning and development function, and supporting people managers in all areas of employee engagement and management. Your key responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Trains new people managers on the use of internal applicant tracking system. Guides hiring managers through using a structured interview process.
- In collaboration with the Director of People and Culture, builds out the PAC’s learning and development program. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
- Performs routine HR administrative tasks, as required, such as onboarding employees in the PAC’s HRIS, completing I9 verifications, and managing leave and benefits administration.
- Working with the Director of People and Culture, drafts and rolls out people related policies and procedures.
- Assists in the development and implementation of DEI initiatives that support the PAC’s commitment to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment.
- Assists with the design and implementation of onboarding and new hire orientation processes and programs.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of People and Culture.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- May be assigned other related tasks, as required.
What it takes to be successful in the role
- 5+ years of HR experience including at least 2 years of generalist experience. with the drive and willingness to engage in all HR disciplines (recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, development of policies and procedures etc).
- Experience using HR Information Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Experience working with the executive level, with the ability to inform and influence on matters pertaining to recruitment, employee relations and HR administration.
- Have a practical, proactive, and action-oriented mindset.
- Be a team player who quickly builds trust with business leaders, employees and candidates.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice HR concepts, with an ability to analyze and problem solve HR issues. Resiliency in working in the “grey”.
- An innovative thinker, with the ability to quickly synthesize information and present it with confidence.
- Intellectually curious, with a learning mindset and an ability to grasp new skills quickly.
- Basic knowledge of employment and labor laws.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships across a complex organization.
- Understands and supports the mission of the PAC.
Our ideal candidate will also possess:
- Prior experience working in a start-up culture.
- Deep knowledge of, or experience working in, the performing arts or a cultural organization.
- Experience using Greenhouse and/or TriNet.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.

Salary and Benefits Information
The annual salary range for this role is between $75,000 and $85,000 plus full benefits. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment and disability benefits, and self-insured dental, vision and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off and 401K enrollment with employer match.
