Director Individual Giving and Community Engagement

Summary:

The Director Individual & Community Engagement will be a key member of the Individual & Community Engagement team. The Director will manage a personal portfolio of major donors, lead Safe Horizon’s junior board, build a monthly donor program, and contribute to cultivation and fundraising events. 

The Director Individual & Community Engagement will report to the AVP Individual & Community Engagement and will work closely with Safe Horizon’s Chief Development Officer and other members of the Individual and Community Engagement team. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Steward an existing portfolio of ~200 major donors (gifts of $1-10K annually) and grow major donor pool. 
  • Serve as staff lead for Safe Horizon’s junior board, Leaders on the Horizon. Increase group participation and identify opportunities for deeper engagement. 
  • Build a monthly donor program with special communication strategy. 
  • Contribute to planning and execution of major fundraising events as well as virtual and in-person cultivation events. 
  • Work closely with campaign team to ensure consistent and compelling donor messaging; develop authentic and meaningful stewardship moments. 
  • Track progress on revenue goals and key performance indicators, identifying areas of opportunity and course correction. 

Qualifications: 

  • Genuine appreciation for Safe Horizon’s mission.
  • 8+ years of fundraising experience. 
  • Proven track record of cultivating and closing five-figure gifts. 
  • Experience working with young professional groups. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and experience engaging diverse demographic groups.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional judgment and integrity.
  • Thorough understanding of Salesforce and other relevant data management systems.
