POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Part-time Chorus Accompanist (leave replacement Spring 2025)

Saint Ann’s is a non-sectarian K-12 independent school in Brooklyn, NY looking for a part-time piano accompanist for our Third Grade Chorus, Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus, and Middle School Singers from January 6, 2025 through June 10, 2025. A school that exists to serve talented, intellectually accomplished and curious students, we seek faculty who are passionate about their subject and able to convey both information and a love of learning to children. The Saint Ann’s Music Department is a group of passionate musicians who want to share and make music with children.

Saint Ann’s does not give grades or compare students to one another. We write anecdotal reports twice a year for students. Embracing and describing each child’s individual experiences in the classroom is a cornerstone of our school.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend scheduled chorus rehearsals
  • Accompany during rehearsals
  • Be available for dress rehearsals and Choral and Instrumental Concert

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • BM or BA in Music Education or Piano Performance or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of musical styles and genres from classical to contemporary
  • Excellent music reading skills including reading a score
  • Enjoy making music and singing with children
  • Experience teaching or working with children is helpful but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the conductor of the chorus
  • Strong interpersonal skills; flexibility and a sense of humor
  • Comfort singing to support students

COMPENSATION

This is a part time exempt faculty position position. Salary of $100 per hour and $200 per concert.
