TITLE: Coordinator Of Special Programs And Projects 

JOB TYPE: Full-Time 

REPORTS TO: Department Chair 

DEPARTMENT: BFA Photography & Video 

OVERVIEW: Oversee departmental projects and special programs within the BFA Photography and Video Department. Serve as the main point of contact and the public liaison between the department and the global professional photography and video community.

WORK SCHEDULE: M-F, 9 AM-5 PM, evenings and weekends as needed; Occasional travel may be required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Department Chair with research and planning for departmental projects
  • and special programs, including identifying departmental objectives, the creation
  • of budgetary spreadsheets and proposals for approval
  • Oversee all departmental projects and special programs to ensure the
  • successful completion and delivery within standards outlined by Chair, such as
  • projected budgets, deadlines, industry best practices, and SVA and
  • departmental guidelines
  • Organize existing departmental projects and programs, develop new initiatives,
  • and produce seasonal programming, including exhibitions, events, tours, and
  • public lectures (US and abroad)
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator/Assistant to the Chair on
  • implementing required departmental initiatives integrated into the curriculum, such
  • as Thesis Catalog, Library Print Collection, and Senior Monographs, among others
  • Ensure that programs follow departmental and SVA institutional guidelines and
  • visual identity, including providing briefs to develop, update, and implement
  • departmental branding
  • Develop and oversee social media campaigns and content
  • Oversee communications with the departmental network, including departmental
  • newsletter; student and alumni opportunities mailings; and promotional materials
  • for events and programs such as social media, announcement cards,
  • advertisements, posters, and email campaigns
  • Cultivate professional contacts and manage an up-to-date master mailing list
  • Work closely with External Relations to provide pertinent information on
  • departmental exhibits, events, lectures, and other relevant news for potential
  • exposure and recognition opportunities
  • Draft and proofread promotional materials for the department and approve them for publication
  • Prepare publication job requests, mail processing forms, and check requests
  • Develop, organize, and maintain the Department’s Art Collection; vet artwork to
  • be included
  • Develop relationships with other institutions of higher education and
  • philanthropic organizations to expand the department’s network of partner organizations
  • Assist Chair with fundraising efforts for humanitarian projects and student
  • scholarships and prizes
  • Work with the Director of Operations to ensure budget guidelines are being met
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with Chair and other departmental meetings as necessary
  • Attend departmental events on an ongoing basis
  • Co-supervise Administrative Assistant with Curriculum
