JOB TITLE: Senior Systems Administrator – Production Studios

DEPARTMENT: BFA 3D Animation and Visual Effects

REPORTS TO: Technology Manager and Director of Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Systems Administrator – Production Support role is responsible for technical and logistical support of the department’s CG animation and VFX software pipeline. This role supports all aspects of production tech from ray tracing to ICVFX. Share your knowledge and experience with future artists of the industry, our current BFA 3D Animation and VFX students. In collaboration with the Technology Manager, you will be responsible for guiding students and faculty to meet our production demands and ensure facility-wide efficiency.

This is an in-person position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide CG animation and VFX workflow problem-solving and tier one support for students and faculty
  • Work with other Systems Administrators on the maintenance, installation and continuous operation of all software, hardware and networks on both PC and Mac platforms
  • Provide clear and concise communication of best practices for CG animation and VFX production
  • Self-direct research in future CG animation and VFX production techniques
  • Respond to helpdesk requests and maintain knowledge base documentation
  • Troubleshoot and document production issues. Research solutions and communicate with software representatives.
  • Attend weekly administration/systems staff meetings and interfacing with SVA IT for troubleshooting and department security policies as needed
  • Contribute to departmental projects, special events and gallery exhibitions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional training/experience
  • Experience working in studio or similar environment
  • Advanced knowledge CG and VFX production pipeline and related software
  • Foundational knowledge of Unreal Engine and SideFX Houdini
  • Ability to communicate cross-discipline and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
  • Confident working in Mac or Windows environments
  • This position requires on-site, in-person, work in our facility. There will be an occasional need to work special events on weekends or evenings.
