JOB TITLE: Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Continuing Education

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Onsite with opportunity for occasional remote work.

COMPENSATION: $55,000 Annually

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of email and digital marketing campaigns, maintaining the department’s daily social media channels, developing social media content, analyzing metrics, maintaining posting schedules, and contributing to the development and coordination of promotional events, publications and special projects. This position requires exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills. The ideal candidate would have a passion for content creation, to drive new ideas that support the department’s advertising initiatives.

The Division of Continuing Education (SVACE) has been a leader in developing and broadening the sector of continued creative studies in New York City for over seventy-five years. Our dynamic course offerings span across a multitude of disciplines, including advertising and design, animation, film, fine arts, illustration and comics, interior design, photography and video, professional development, visual and critical studies and visual narrative. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive email and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Curate and maintain the department’s daily social media channels to interact with multiple audiences and drive users to SVACE’s website.
  • Maintain posting schedules and ensure year-round content engagement for SVACE and the artist residency programs.
  • Develop and execute social media content and digital advertising campaigns tailored to each discipline, artist residency programs, and SVACE’s target audience.
  • Promote courses, events, and artist residency programs and increase SVACE’s online community.
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media activity across all platforms.
  • Digitize the SVACE Zine on Issu and on other digital platforms, including archive management.
  • Update and maintain the SVACE Blog, including content creation.
  • Attend SVACE events and coordinate social engagement via Instagram and Facebook.
  • Engage faculty and students on marketing initiatives.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, and/or 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in communications, social media, and digital marketing, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Experience in content creation, including photography and video, and experience in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in web and social media analytics, tracking, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop), Canva, or other design software.
  • Basic design skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Gmail, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Excel), Adobe Acrobat, or other business software.
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools such as Later or Hootsuite.
  • Understanding of how to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) in marketing strategies and campaigns.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of assigned practices and procedures.
  • Strong verbal, written, and email communication skills; able to communicate professionally across diverse personalities.
  • Knowledge of basic design principles.
  • Strong interest in visual art and design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop), Canva, or other design software.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Gmail, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Excel), Adobe Acrobat, or other business software.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and social media best practices and standards.
  • Experience with managing digital content production.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer and related equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The normal working hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends for special events
  • While working remotely, will be required to maintain the same hours of work as would be performed in the office; follow the department’s procedures in completing assigned job tasks; and be available during the employee’s working hours via the department-established communication methods (i.e. Google chat, phone, etc.)
