Overview
South Street Seaport Museum seeks a Part-Time IT System Administrator Level I to join the Museum’s Administrative team. The successful candidate will have 1-3 years of desktop support experience. S/he will be customer oriented, open-minded with the ability to train users as needed, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and very comfortable working with people, computer systems, and database infrastructure.
S/he must be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and be diligent in work habits.
Commitment: Part-time, Non-exempt
Schedule: 20-24 hours per week, on-site, during regular office hours. Some evenings and/or weekends, depending on needs.
Location: This position would be 100 percent on-site.
The IT System Administrator Level I position will provide technical support to the staff, freelancers, vendors, interns, and students. Must be able to troubleshoot Mac and Windows operating systems; understand networking, cellular or WiFi; and support hand-held devices e.g., iPad, Android Tablets, or other PDAs.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- On-site desktop support, system installation, software installation, hardware tracking, record keeping;
- Place or move digital equipment, assist in laying network cables;
- Software updates troubleshoot network connectivity, file organization, networked copier support, and server administration.
- Familiarity with data entry and database maintenance is a plus.
Requirements:
- Must be able to work independently, keep assigned tasks on track, and prepare scheduled project progress reports.
- Must be comfortable working alone, take instructions over the phone, text, or email;
- Must be physically fit to climb stairs or lift items over 40 pounds.
- Must be proficient in supporting various end-user productivity applications in both Mac and Windows platforms: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Access, along with other office, design, or web-oriented software.
This is a Part-Time, Non-Exempt position. $20–25 per hour, depending on experience.
