The Opportunity
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) is seeking an Executive Director for its non-profit animal shelter, training center, veterinary clinic and adoption center located in Hampton Bays, New York. This is an opportunity to lead an outstanding and well-known animal welfare organization located in the Hamptons on the East End of Long Island.
Organization
SASF’s mission is to provide for the welfare of homeless animals throughout the seven villages and 18 hamlets of Southampton Township it serves and to place the animals into caring, permanent homes. Overview of the Position
The Executive Director will provide leadership across all operations and programs, including management of staff, facilities management, day-to-day administration, financial forecasting and budgeting, training and behavior, adoptions, community outreach, marketing, and fundraising and development.
The Executive Director will also develop and maintain policies and procedures for all staff functions, ensure fiscal responsibility over budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with CFO/Controller, and maintain, develop and implement major fundraising initiatives through donor relations, grants and events. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will help to develop and implement a strategy to achieve the long-term vision of SASF to further expand its role in the No Kill movement.
Qualifications
The qualifications and experience that the new Executive Director should have include the following:
- Strong business management and supervisory experience;
- Proven track-record in fundraising;
- Good financial skills in budgeting and forecasting;
- Strong oral and written communication skills; and
- Ability to engage the public and serve as an effective ambassador and spokesperson for the shelter.
