Position Overview:

The Residence Director is a live-in and part-time professional position in the Student Services Department of the Academy for its New York City campus. Supervised by the Director of Student Services, the Residence Director handles the housing facilities operations for approximately 100 residents. This is a high-impact, high-student-contact position centered on supporting student success, community building, student conduct, and crisis intervention and emergency response.

General Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain 24-hour/365-day on-call duty rotation with the Director of Student Services, which may require crisis management. This includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Handles the day-to-day operations of the Residence Hall and provides general guidance and mentorship to a diverse student body.
    Nurture and develop a vibrant, inclusive, cohesive, and active housing community.
  • Support the organization and implementation of student Orientation and Registration each term.
  • Collaborate with staff from various departments to develop, implement, and assess housing operations.
    Uphold and enforce student conduct policies, including addressing policy violations in student housing.
  • Support Title IX issues, investigations, training, and compliance.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; enrollment in a master’s program in Higher Education or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of residence life/student affairs experience.
  • On-call professional crisis management experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the Academy’s core values of Inclusive Excellence, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
    Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office Suite, databases, and e-mail.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a live-in and part-time position with free housing in a prime Manhattan location (NoMad).
  • Stipend range: $12,000 to $15,000 per calendar year.
  • Lightly furnished studio apartment.
  • Utilities and Wi-Fi are included.
