Overview

The Bowery Mission is a holistic, Christian faith-based organization dedicated to serving people who are experiencing homelessness. The Choose Help – Clinical Services Team supports program services by helping to establish a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed community that fosters positive and growing relationships with God and others, invites guests to Choose Help, and equips clients to Make Progress toward independent living.

As a key member of the Clinical Services team, the Choose Help (CH) Social Worker will develop integrated, faith-based clinical services that motivate and equip emergency shelter guests to obtain quality, holistic care, and stable housing. The CH Social Worker will conduct psychosocial assessments, provide brief therapy interventions and Individual Action Plans (IAPs) through short-term case management, and complete guest referrals for services that support an effective and comprehensive internal and external continuum of care. Working in collaboration with Community Life staff and Ambassadors, the CH Social Worker will provide therapeutic conflict resolution and de-escalation interventions from a spiritual care approach to support guests and staff. The CH Social Worker will be an integral participant in regular program team meetings, provide task supervision to graduate-level clinical interns, lead in-service staff training, and provide guest psychoeducation and life skills classes, as needed.

Specific tasks for this role include but are not limited to direct client support, supervision of graduate-level interns, facilitating/conducting classes & groups, and support service enhancement of the clinical services team in their ability to provide sound clinical services to clients in need.
