Overview
The Calyx Institute is seeking applications for an enthusiastic and energetic Shipping and Fulfillment Associate to join our Membership Team. The Shipping & Fulfillment Associate is responsible for preparing and shipping membership benefits packages to members, optimizing shipping activities to improve efficiency and eco-friendliness, and representing Calyx through professional and responsive communication with members. This position will also track inventory, supplies, and costs associated with membership benefits fulfillment, help maintain the membership database, and assist with some administrative tasks. The Shipping & Fulfillment Associate will report to the Membership Director, and regularly coordinate with other membership team members and programs across Calyx.
This position is an on-site, non-remote role. Shipping and fulfillment takes place in our Brooklyn, NY office. Shipping and fulfillment is primarily focused on wireless hotspots, mobile phones, t-shirts, hats, and stickers sent to our member-donors.
Ideal candidates will have experience with shipping, logistics, and/or online customer support.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving and arranging incoming deliveries in designated storage areas.
- Packing and shipping outgoing member packages.
- Optimizing shipping and fulfillment operations.
- Updating Calyx databases to track memberships and inventory.
- Coordinating with the membership team to resolve shipping-related questions and member issues using Help Desk software, and over email and/or the phone.
- Resolving international shipping issues.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position frequently, while packing and shipping as well as operating a computer.
- 1+ year experience in shipping, logistics and/or online customer support.
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders as needed to distribute inventory.
- Ability to lift and move packing/shipping equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.

- Four-year degree (or equivalent)
