Our flagship transitional work program– Ready, Willing & Able– integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

We are presently seeking a Porter to join our team. The Porter reports to the Building Superintendent and Property Manager and is responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain outdoor grounds including upkeep of grass and bushes; sweeping; raking leaves; shoveling snow
  • Sweep, mop, wash, dust, and vacuum the interior of the building including stairs, floors,
  • rugs, windows, and walls
  • Seal, wax, and buff floors and hard surfaces
  • Clean individual units when vacated to prepare for occupancy
  • Sort and separate the recyclables from other waste to comply with NYC regulations
  • Operate compactor, scissor lift, and freight elevator
  • Assist Superintendent when assigned
  • Perform painting as needed in the apartment and common areas
  • Assist with preventative maintenance inspections and routine upkeep of building systems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned Report problem areas and maintenance concerns to the supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.  
  • Ability to carry out assignments in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Experience in building maintenance or related fields.
  • The individual must be on call for emergencies. 
  • The individual should possess a driver’s license.
