Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism by providing holistic services, housing and work opportunities to the under-served populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program– Ready, Willing & Able– integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

 

This position will track program data, analyze outcomes, identify & explore program successes and shortcomings, and make recommendations to the Workforce Development department. This role will also serve to support department leadership in their efforts to learn about client friendly jobs and career paths, and how to prepare clients for success in those jobs via research and analysis. The overall purpose of the role is to help achieve improved overall program effectiveness and explore new and better ways to serve our unique client base. The person in this position also works directly with clients.

 

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis 70%

  • Analyze employment data. This includes tracking and identifying trends in job title, employer, wage, retention, and sector of employment.
  • Analyze class and training enrollment, attendance, and completion. This includes tracking and identifying trends by class, TABE score, and RWA facility.
  • Research, track, analyze, and utilize up-to-date labor market data, workforce information, and economic trends to inform and guide department leadership on programming design and development.
  • Use both quantitative and qualitative insight gathered at the client level to identify needs and interests of client base regarding programming content and design.
  • Use new insights to develop recommendations for programming changes where applicable.
  • Explore new opportunities for training and education offering development with a focus on strengthening client hire-ability for low barrier, higher paying, and stable jobs with opportunities for advancement.
  • Analyze data, conduct research, and produce additional reports on an ad hoc basis based on the needs and interests of WFD department leadership.
  • Produce annual report that summarizes annual programming outcomes, identifies notable trends, and showcases programming successes.
  • Produced a pared down bi-annual WFD report as a means to keep leadership informed on the status of department programming goals and expectations for the year.
  • Produce quarterly reports that focus on tracking department programming figures, comparing figures across quarters, and adding qualitative context to apparent trends and changes.
  • Communicate findings effectively – adjusting for tone, content, writing style, and graphics design – to the specific needs, interests, and competencies of your audience.
  • Advise team and team leadership on data collection & management protocol, methods, and techniques. Recommendations should be based on the needs and interests of the team, with a central focus on methods integrity and consistency.
  • Think critically and creatively about new ways to track, collect, analyze and compare programming data and outcomes.
  • Attend NYC and Workforce Development community conferences, meetings, and events as needed. 
  • Attend WFD Departmental Meetings for both Education and Training and Career Development and provide the necessary reports.
  • Facilitate database training for WFD staff to ensure that department metrics can be tracked properly.

 

Departmental Responsibilities 30%

  • Provides career, vocational, and educational counseling by determining trainees’ educational and professional qualifications and transferable skills by completing Education and Training intakes with trainees
  • Provides client support in the computer labs as needed
  • Acts as Education & Training Department resource for clients and staff members alike 
  • Facilitates monthly Education and Training orientations as needed
  • Performs other duties related to the goals of the Education and Training Team as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Mastery of advanced Microsoft Excel applications and deep knowledge of data analysis concepts and terminology. Knowledge on pivot tables and SQL queries is a plus.
  • Experience with data collection, management, analysis or research report production
  • Experience with InDesign, Visme, Piktochart, Google platforms and Microsoft Office programs
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet demanding deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and the proven ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information required, to the proper audience.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • “Out of the box” thinking is crucial
  • Must be willing to travel to all residential facilities (Bedstuy, Bushwick, Harlem)
