Description:

This full-time apprenticeship focuses on the development and integration of skills in support of all administrative, curricular, and artistic operations of the Drama Division’s actor training program and the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program. The apprentice will contribute to the dynamic atmosphere of the Drama Division, making a significant impact on the success of the division’s many activities.

Reporting to the Managing Director and in collaboration with the Drama Division Staff, ideal candidates possess a collaborative spirit, a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills, and have a passionate interest in arts administration, the artistic process, student development, and higher education.

The salary is $17.39 per hour or a contracted amount of $27,824 for the school year. The schedule operates on standard office hours, requiring occasional flexibility to accommodate specific events or projects. This is a forward-facing role, and an on-campus presence to interact with students, faculty, staff, and guests is expected.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Drama Division staff, faculty, and students, managing general communications, office inventories, student information, and running errands out of the building as needed.
  • Assist with annual audition process involving over 2,000 candidates.
  • Manage and track all reservations and correspondences for annual Actor Presentations in New York and Los Angeles.
  • Collaborate with team members on the 4th-year and playwright website, including headshots, resumes, and production photographs.
  • Assistswith set-up for all division group meetings and events, overseeing catering and managing budget and expenses as necessary.
  • Act as House and Ticket Manager for 1st and 2nd-year showings.
  • Monitor studio spaces, troubleshoot audio-visual systems, and assist with technology usage, communicating any studio or dressing room related issues.
  • Handle student evaluation sheets, attendance records, and office files, contributing to overall organization and efficiency.
  • Assist with the planning, management and execution of projects as directed by the Managing Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Passion for a career in theatrical administration and/or producing. Experience and working knowledge of the intended craft is essential.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or related professional experience and transferable skills, or a combination of both.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to meet the many sensitive needs of a fast-paced educational and performing arts community.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively with great attention to detail.
  • This role interacts with a variety of populations, from members of the industry, to prospective students, to guest artists, in addition to all areas of the Juilliard community. This position is best suited for an individual who possesses a professional, warm, mature personality and brings grace and a sense of humor to their work endeavors.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies with diplomacy and tact.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience or working knowledge of Theater.
  • Experience with college or professional theater, preferably in administration or stage management.
  • Additional computer skills, including PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Familiarity with video and audio editing software.
