Overview:

The Director of IT,  Infrastructure and Security is a senior member of the IT Department who is responsible for leading Juilliard’s IT Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Operations. The role consists of implementing strategic and operational plans, providing hands-on systems engineering and architecture expertise, performing technology solution evaluation and selection, evaluating IT resource requirements and internal/external resource allocation, and managing network and systems engineering vendors. Additionally, the Director will oversee the management of Juilliard’s cloud computing and hosting environments. The Director of IT Infrastructure reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Salary range: $150,000 to $160,000

Role Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages personnel in the Infrastructure Team (team of 4 full time members and consultants).
  • Maintain Juilliard’s IT infrastructure ensuring all IT systems, hardware, networks, applications, and platforms are secure and operating efficiently.  Overseeing institutional storage (on-premise and cloud) and back-up systems.
  • Lead the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, documentation and support of high quality, reliable IT systems, and networks.
  • Identify, document and monitor security incidents, technical risks, and vulnerabilities. Work with internal & external teams to implement appropriate controls for future mitigation.
  • Incorporate industry security standards into practical security operations, network operations, and application development practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise as required to maintain, configure, install, monitor, and support the Juilliard School’s heterogeneous server infrastructure. Assist with ensuring the availability of client/server applications, web applications and developing processes and procedures for the ongoing management of the network and server environment.
  • Implement, operate, and support all server, storage, network and on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including Linux, VMware, Citrix, Windows, AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Dell storage platforms.
  • Oversee and directly participate in the engineering, implementation, configuration, and management of information security technologies, to include identity management, network protection, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management solutions.
  • In conjunction with the network security engineer, manage external vendors to provide technical risk assessments (e.g. PCI), penetration testing, and web application vulnerability assessments.
  • Oversee technology infrastructure acquisitions and equipment maintenance to ensure system performance and disaster recovery metrics (e.g., Recovery Time Objective and Recovery Point Objective) comport with established SLAs. Regularly liaise with stakeholders to obtain feedback as well as pro-actively advise on system and service changes. Focus on security-related issues associated with physical, virtual and off-premise (i.e., Cloud) information technologies.
  • Continue to leverage cloud computing strategies to achieve reliability and/or cost savings via cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS) and/or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms where appropriate. Support and maintain current cloud-based infrastructure investments.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 8+ years of IT experience, with previous experience leading & managing teams of IT & Security professionals within a non-profit and/or higher education institution.
  • Capable of leading technology change through excellent strategic, technical thought leadership with a strong focus on delivering customer value
  • Hands-on experience managing Office 365 and underlying user, device, and security services, as well as extensive experience with Okta SSO and Citrix.
  • Expertise with enterprise technology issues and best practices, systems design, architecture, and systems integration.
  • Experience in mentoring technical personnel, promoting teamwork and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Strong working experience with server hardware and server operating systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain management
  • Proficient in general networking principles, including routing, TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and associated security protocols.
  • Experience managing a hybrid MacOS and Windows corporate environment.
  • Proficient understanding of industry standards and regulations including PCI, GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, etc.
  • Ability to promote collaboration and cooperation among organizational entities.
  • Strong track record of managing people, projects, and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, partners, and industry peers.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining diverse server hardware and associated equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of VMware virtual server environments and storage area networks (SANs).
  • Experience in managing external systems and network integration vendors.
  • The ability and interest in documenting processes and procedures
  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills with the proven ability to partner with colleagues across an organization; build consensus; champion ideas; develop collegial relationships with a broad range of constituencies, foster collaborative interactions, and view issues from a whole institution perspective.
