Description:
The electrics apprentice will act as an assistant head electrician during the season, and may have the opportunity to fill the role of head electrician. The apprentice will participate in prepping, hanging, and focusing for productions, as well as general maintenance of the Electrics Shop’s inventory and spaces. Assignments may also include light board and spotlight operator.

The salary is $17.39 per hour or a contracted amount of $27,824 for the school year (dependent on agreed contract dates).

Role Responsibilities:
- Work with Electrics staff and overhire crew in prepping, hanging, focusing, and running productions across 5 venues .
- All apprentices will act as an assistant head electrician during the season, and will typically have the opportunity to fill the role of head electrician, as well as various run crew positions such as light board operator, deck electrician, and spotlight operator.
- Develop and utilize a working understanding of navigating and manipulating paperwork with Vectorworks and Lightwright .
- Work with staff electricians or overhire crew to assist with video support for productions when applicable.
- Work on hang, focus, notes, and work calls in all spaces as the schedule allows.
- Fulfill maintenance duties on a daily, weekly, and yearly basis in the theatres and in the electrics shop.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of related educational and professional experience of four (4) years.
- Experience working in lighting for theater, dance, or events, as well as a basic understanding of current lighting equipment, including control consoles.
- Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces. This position requires working in a public area, being on your feet for long periods of time, and will often include working nights and weekends depending on show assignments.
- Computer literacy.
- Able to work with others and lead others on projects as needed.
- This is a full time, on-site, in person position.
Preferred Background:
- Must be comfortable in an educational setting.
- Experience with Vectorworks and Lightwright is a plus.
