Description
A full-time (40 hours per week including 5 hours per week paid lunch breaks) piano technician is expected to tune and service school’s pianos 4-5 hours a day, and spend the rest of work hours performing assigned rebuilding tasks. Piano servicing includes daily tunings in school’s venues, studios, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, and practice rooms. Work hours start no later than 6:00 am, 5 days a week. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as assigned by supervisor.
The salary for this role $65,000-$95,000 per year.

Role Responsibilities
- Tuning pianos on a daily basis
- Restringing, replacing bridge pins, and refreshing bridge notches
- Regulating actions and damper systems
- Rebuilding actions and damper systems
- Voicing pianos
- Concert-level tuning for Juilliard performances
- Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining pianos and piano benches
- Installing and maintaining Dampp Chaser Piano Life Saver systems
- Repairing piano hardware and case damage
- Participating in piano moving
Minimum Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- 3 years of experience working as a piano technician
- Concert-level piano tuning and action regulation skills
- Organizational skills
- Computer skills
- Spreadsheet proficiency
- Effective communicator
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to be team player
- Interest and ability to set and achieve goals
- Strong interest in improving technical skills, display openness to new ideas
- Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous university experience
- Piano Technicians Guild RPT status
- Action rebuilding and restringing experience
- Training at Steinway or reputable piano rebuilding shop and periodic attendance at PTG conferences
- Graduate of recognized training program
- College degree
