Job description
As Associate Counsel with 3+ years of practice, your key responsibilities will be:
- Client and Case Management: Handling all aspects of legal representation from intake to disposition, including but not limited to client interviews both in the office and at the jail, court appearances, discovery review, negotiations, trial preparation, and trials. A valid license and car are required to travel to and from the jail and courts.
- Training: Develop and present continuing legal education in areas of your specialization.
- Legal Research and Writing: Draft and review legal documents like appeals, motions, and briefs.
- Client Relations: Meet with clients to identify their goals and explain the legal process to them. Work with providers using all available resources to meet clients’ needs to comply with court ordered programs and provide mitigation. Negotiate with the prosecutors to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.
- Team Meetings: Attend and participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding specific cases, office policies, legal issues and changes in law and criminal practice.
- Salary range: $90,000 -$129,000 depending on experience.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law.
- At least 3+ years of legal practice, preferably in a related field of law.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Dedication to providing legal services to indigent and underserved communities.
- Must own a car and have a valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 – $129,000.00 per year
