Overview

This individual is responsible for supporting Director of Leadership Gifts and Special Campaigns with preparation of leadership giving, patron, and special campaign correspondence, and supplemental materials. This individual works on special campaign assignments, related to support for new and revival productions, media programs including Live in HD, Support the Met Broadcasts Campaign, Met Opera on Demand, HDLive in Schools, capital, and more. This individual assists in preparing correspondence, materials, and reports, and benefits fulfillment for individual, corporate, and foundation donors; oversees database records and updates campaign tracking. This individual also provides support for the Director’s Patron portfolio and other administrative support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Director with preparation of special campaign proposals, letters and presentations, assist with collection of supplemental materials and required attachments. Liaise with other departments as needed. 
  • Coordinate leadership and patron portfolio correspondence; arrange donor entertaining, including invitations, ticketing and reservations; and provide donor support with Patron ticket orders, seat improvements and exchanges; maintain accurate donor records.
  • Complete varied types of gifts receivable, invoices, and receipting with Finance department, update Tessitura and gift tracking by campaign, draft acknowledgments, and maintain files.
  • Assist Director with management of benefits fulfillment for varied Special Campaign donors; coordinate promotional special campaign materials, and Support the Met Broadcasts Campaign listings on website.
  • Schedule meetings, manage calendars and provide support for donor meetings. 
  • Coordinate preparation of the annual Board Handbook.
  • Coordinate and support administrative office functions and telephone coverage; process expense reports.
  • Provide support for galas, programs and other events.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • BA degree required.
  • Strong interest in fundraising.
  • Strong interest in opera/performing arts
  • Two or more years of fundraising experience highly desirable.
  • Responsible, poised, discreet individual with the ability to interact well with a broad and sophisticated donor constituency.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and Tessitura.
  • Independent initiative and ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and the diplomacy and good judgment needed to balance multiple tasks. 

Physical Demands:

  • The Metropolitan Opera is a performance venue that requires employees working in the building to be fully vaccinated. Due to the nature of this role, you must be fully vaccinated and receive a COVID-19 booster shot, if you are eligible, at the time your employment is scheduled to start.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately, and adapt readily to changes in priorities.
  • Ability and interest in working with all types of donors—individual, corporate, foundation.
