Overview

Position: Learning & Development Coordinator

Reports to: Associate Director of Corporate Solutions

Status: Full-Time Non-Exempt

Role Type: Hybrid In-Person

Start Date: Fall 2022

The Job

The Opportunity Network (OppNet) seeks a mission-driven, equity, and racial justice-focused individual to join its collaborative OppNet Partnerships team. This position will support our Opportunity Ignited (OppIgnited) and Career Fluency® Partnerships programs.

OppIgnited is a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color)-informed capacity-building resource for corporate employers to learn, design, and build inclusive workplaces to hire, onboard, and retain first-generation college graduates and talent of color. The OppIgnited program also provides partners with the opportunity to hire OppNet Fellows for summer internship positions with their companies. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to building equity and opportunity across the corporate sector by playing a critical role in the execution of a program focused on creating systems change at the intersection of youth development, workforce readiness, and corporate responsibility.

OppNet’s Career Fluency® Partnerships program provides immersive community-centered, capacity-building partnerships for institutions committed to supporting the post-secondary success and career development of their students. OppNet launched “UninterruptED: Unstoppable Learning”, a robust and comprehensive open-access online learning platform, that will be easily and freely accessible by any first-generation student and young person of color seeking dynamic online lessons. “UninterruptED” will distill key learnings from OppNet’s curve-setting six-year Fellows Program and national Career Fluency® Partnerships Program to fill a critical and growing gap for young people across the country. This position offers the exciting opportunity to manage and develop components of the Career Fluency® Partnerships Program and UninterruptED as it relates to developing our virtual and in-person curriculum through an innovative program model that will impact thousands of students across the country.

This is a dynamic opportunity to join a growing team that is expanding two innovative and justice-driven program models. The Learning & Development Coordinator will work with the Opportunity Ignited and Career Fluency Partnerships® teams to create, collaborate, and seize a real opportunity to deepen social change.

The Organization

Since 2003, OppNet has ignited the drive, curiosity, and agency of historically and systematically underrepresented students on their paths to and through college and into thriving careers, powered by our commitment to access and community. This year, OppNet will reach more than 10,000 students of color across the nation to support them in achieving their college and career goals.

  • OppNet’s founding Fellows program works with 1,000+ students over the course of six years, from 11th grade through to college graduation, to provide college guidance, five summers of paid internships, career exposure and skills-training, and support in growing personal and professional networks.
  • OppNet’s Career Fluency® Partnerships Program works with 35+ schools and youth-serving nonprofits across 20+ cities to build their capacity to amplify college and career outcomes for their own students.
  • Through Opportunity Ignited, we provide advisory services to corporations seeking to embed values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their businesses.
  • UninterruptedED, launched in 2020, is OppNet’s free, open-access learning portal for students and educators offering flexible courses spanning our proprietary Career Fluency® curriculum.

All of the work OppNet leads is in service of realizing our vision of a nation connected through vibrant communities and networks actively in pursuit of social justice and educational equity – a nation where all young people can freely create their own path to enduring success that honors their passions, ambitions, and full identities.
