Overview

Position Summary:

The role of the Outreach Team Summer Intern is to provide support for the main program areas under Neighborhood Support. The intern will be an intricate part of the outreach team during meals distribution, street outreach, researching and assisting with logistical supports for each of the program areas. 

To be considered you must be a student enrolled in a undergraduate program or graduate program. The Internship program will begin on June 3rd and end on August 2nd. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To support the outreach team in the following programs:

Resource Line (Monday to Friday, 2-5pm)

– Resource Connections: Working directly with community members assisting on SNAP, Housing, SSI applications and/or navigating local resources for assistance. 

– Community Wellness Program: Referring constituents for free counseling with McShane institute. 

– NAMI: Referring constituents to support groups. 

Compassion Meals

– Setups, Service, and Breakdown for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Street Outreach

– Providing housing/food insecure constituents with care packages, food and water around the neighborhoods surrounding Trinity.

Compassion Market

– Maintaining, updating, and organizing inventory.

– Serving groceries and essentials to constituents. 

– Maintaining a safe inviting place for constituents. 

      Compassion Space

– Maintaining, updating, and organizing inventory.

– Serving clothing and toiletries to constituents. 

      Projects

– Assist with additional projects such as making calls to allies, researching. 

Vendors, and other program related research.

Required Skills:

• Desire to or experience conducting community outreach.

• Interest in help addressing food insecurity, mental health, general health, and other community needs.

• Understanding of community-based work settings.

• Ability to draft reports and presentations.

• Active listening skills.

• Ability to collaborate cooperatively with the community.

• Outstanding judgement and discretion in handling sensitive matters.

• Passionate about outreach and making a difference.
