Position Summary
As the Email Operations Manager, you have substantial responsibility around the systems and technologies supporting email for the Marketing and Communications Department at UJA-Federation of New York. You will support the growth of our email marketing operations, with the responsibility of overseeing the scheduling, production, QA, and deployment of email communications. You will supervise a production team and lead them in mastery of our email systems including, but not limited to, Litmus and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. You will also work closely with the Digital Strategist to identify, track, and analyze key email performance metrics, including deliverability. Our ideal candidate is experienced with managing email campaigns that meet brand and quality standards to a high degree while sustaining platform best practices. This position reports to the Director of Digital and Direct Marketing.
Major Responsibilities
· Establish, maintain, and optimize processes for email production operations.
· Oversee daily operations to ensure all email campaigns are completed and deployed on time and with a high deliverability while meeting quality standards.
· Maintain mastery of the systems and technologies supporting marketing email production and deployment, and train and coach the team in their use, ensuring necessary levels of proficiency are achieved.
· Ensure efficient management of internal customer requests for the email channel, establishing and refining processes and systems for project management and cross-departmental collaboration.
· Lead and guide email production team in QA (quality assurance) practices.
· Update, develop, and test new email templates and workflows, including automations and journeys, to meet internal partner needs.
· Work closely with Digital Strategist to track and analyze the marketing KPIs relevant to the email channel and communicate results.
· Suggest strategy and campaign execution refinements to continually improve ROI from email marketing efforts.
· Assist the Donor Center and Fundraising with subscription preference management questions and safeguard appropriate use of audience lists.
· Collaborate with other channel managers on execution of integrated marketing campaigns.
· Stay on top of email best practices and industry trends; ensure compliance with consumer protection laws as applicable.
· Support the implementation of SMS marketing campaigns in Salesforce Mobile Studio
· Leverage the functionality of our existing tools to unlock their optimal value, recommending the implementation of new functionality as appropriate to achieve business goals.
· Act as the primary liaison with IT and external vendors around the selection, customization, and implementation of systems and processes impacting email production, including platform updates, operational enhancements, and integration with other systems.
Requirements:
· 2+ years of hands-on experience in email campaign production and execution using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or another top-tier ESP
· Fluency with HTML and ability to work in and manipulate HTML coding
· Familiarity with Salesforce Journey Builder and Automation Studio or equivalent tools
· Familiarity with Validity or similar email inbox placement tool
· Robust understanding of email deliverability, segmentation, and list hygiene
· Supervisory experience
· Expert project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet aggressive deadlines, and handle real-time change requests
· Knowledge of transactional/marketing email best practices
· Ability to communicate comfortably to diverse audiences across all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing
· A positive personality and strong sense of personal accountability
· Familiarity with Salesforce Mobile Studio a plus
· Familiarity with SQL query language a plus
· Familiarity with CSS a plus
· Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing or communications, or equivalent experience
