Win is the largest provider of shelter for families experiencing homeless in New York City. Since 1983, Win has been helping homeless New York City women and their children transform their lives through a progressive and holistic approach that doesn’t simply provide a hand out, but a way out. Win’s life-changing process starts with safe, clean housing and includes vital programs and services developed to break the cycle of homelessness, so the women and children caught in the cycle can look forward to a brighter future!

Win is seeking an experienced candidate to work in Win’s lower Manhattan headquarters.

Purpose of the Position:

The Director, IT PMO will manage the efficient and effective delivery of Win’s IT project portfolio in support of IT’s multi-year roadmap and strategic goals. The position is responsible for the day to day project management and business analysis tasks related to the projects within the IT project portfolio. The position will work closely with the VP, Information Technology to manage the project portfolio, develop the IT project roadmap and increase IT capacity. The Director, IT PMO will develop project management and business analysis standards, templates and reporting and mentor staff on the use of project management best practices. 

This individual will need to have a good understanding of both business and technology processes to be able to explain the business needs to the technology team. Similarly, the candidate would be able to understand and present technological concepts to the Win end users. 

 

Responsibilities:

Act as link between the business units and IT staff. Work closely with business units to understand how they operate in order to best help meet their needs.

  • Drive the requirements gathering process, work with business units to determine needs for new applications and features and enhancements to existing applications
  • Lead implementation of software projects in a project management capacity 
  • Lead QA process for application implementations and deployments
  • Liaise with team members and project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Communicate information regarding work plans, schedules, and related requirements
  • Create and Maintain project documentation including, business requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, user stories, project plans, test plans and user guides.
  • Develop project management standards, templates and processes for the IT department.
  • Deliver project portfolio reports and risk management assessments
  • Work with VP, Information Technology on development and management of technology roadmap

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5 – 7 years of Business Analysis and/or IT Project Management experience
  • 1- 2 years of portfolio or program management experience
  • Awareness of project management methodologies such as waterfall, agile and Lean 
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and technologies quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient at writing user stories, business and functional requirements documents, and test plans 
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira or MS Project
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and proactively 
  • Strong collaboration and change management skills
  • Start-up mentality with ability to work in a growing organization and team where many processes and procedures have yet to be defined. Ability to help build team.
  • Experience developing and writing RFPs a plus
  • Experience at a mid to large size Non-profit a plus
