The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) is a multicultural youth chorus internationally renowned for its superb virtuosity, brilliant showmanship, and innovative model of diversity. We were founded by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur Fellow and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year, YPC’s mission and values are deeply rooted in providing children of all cultural and economic backgrounds with a unique music education program and choral performance. Position Overview

The organization has an immediate opening for a Grant Writer / Manager who will take the lead on writing LOIs, proposals, reports, and collateral materials; cultivate relationships with current donors (individuals, foundations, and corporations) and reach out to new prospects; track multiple deadlines; coordinate with the program and artistic staff; and work closely with a highly collaborative development team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead grant writing team in identifying foundation prospects researching compatibility and giving potential.
  • Develop, manage, and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for foundation grants.
  • Steward existing foundation relationships through regular communication, updates, and invitations to events/performances.
  • Ensure compliance with existing awards.
  • Develop and prepare high-quality written materials and budgets for foundation and corporate grant proposals and reports.
  • Manage calendar of foundation, government, and corporate submission deadlines.
  • Maintain organization of commonly used grant application attachments and data on YPC’s program activities.
  • Regularly refresh language for YPC’s programs and general operating support requests.
  • See each grant application and report from strategy to submission, ensuring that every requirement is met.
  • Draft communication of all types with foundations and corporations: sponsorship one-sheets, letters of introduction, check-ins, invitations, etc.
  • Manage and oversee the department’s acknowledgment processes and award contract execution.
  • Support YPC’s government campaigns.
  • Organize site visits for foundation funders and prospects.
  • Provide regular foundation and corporate grant reports to the development team.
  • Attend YPC performances and cultivation events as required.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned.

 Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5+ years of fundraising experience.
  • Exceptions organizational skills with superb attention to detail.
  • Adept at working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience drafting project budgets.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Suite, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and willingness to meet the changing needs of the department.
  • Knowledge of NYC arts/youth funding community
